From June 30th
to July 13th volunteers from 3 continents came to Jozefów
to participate in one of two international summer workcamps. 21
people from different parts of the world decided to come to Poland to
work either in day-care for children or in ecological workcamp.
Volunteers came to Poland from South Korea, Canada, Germany, Czech
republic, Spain, Ukraine, Taiwan and Turkey.
The task for participants
in ecological camp was to check all of the trees in the town,
searching for ill or dead ones. They also cleaned the area of the
river Swider and took care of flowers around the town.
Second group of volunteers
cooperated with local church and everyday they spent time with
children playing games, talking about their countries and cultures
and helping teachers prepare free time activities.
All of the volunteers
lived in Jedrus in Jozefów, which provided many free time
opportunities and activities. During weekend volunteers decided to
travel a little and visit also other towns in Poland. Part of them
went to visit Kraków and Auschwitz and others made a short trip to
Torun.
Participants also brought
traditional food of their country, which prepared during
international evening. Many of them also showed their traditional
dances, customs and shared interesting information about their
culture with other volunteers. There was also opportunity to learn
