International Volunteer Day in SPW office!

International Volunteer Day takes place annually on December 5 as a celebration of volunteers and volunteering in all its forms. So of course we decided to celebrate as well!

The reason is obvious: WE ARE VOLUNTEERS! :)

First we had a workshop about effective communication: our volunteer Ola gave us good advices and great examples about how to deal with difficult interlocutors and overcome all kinds of communication barriers. (How to behave and get attention if someone is not interested in topic or if someone is too enthusiastic and disturbing? How to react when for your question “Do you play any sports?” you get an ‘answer’: “Hmm, where did you get your nice dress from?” :) And much - much more.. )

We had fun, we learnt some new good tactics and ways for possible difficult communication situations and in addition - we also got to know each other better.

After Ola’s workshop (thanks to Ola once again!) the celebration itself started!

At the beginning our Dorota had small speech and gave cute presents to volunteers, then we had symbolic toast to volunteering and then...

Then we were talking, eating, singing, dancing (some of us more – some of us less), taking funny pictures, having great time...

We were celebrating International Volunteer Day. OUR day.
