Edyta Jankowska share her wonderful experience on SPW seminar

Hej everyone!

Today we want to share a marvellous story that shows you how since people get involved in EVS projects the adventures never ends. This time was an opportunity for Edyta to continue her EVS life and she was availible to represented SPW in an event after the end of her EVS project.

Edyta:

In the beginning of December (7-11 December 2015) I had pleasure to represent SPW on a seminar in Harsin, a small village a few kilometres from lovely Marche-en-Famenne in Belgium. The Contact Making Seminar Sencitizenship gathered representatives of organisations from Italy, France, Belgium, Moldova, Greece, Czech Republic, Scotland, Finland and Poland, which belong to the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations. The project aimed at sharing knowledge and know-how regarding citizenship involvement and volunteering and presenting it in the Ideabook, a booklet with inspirational and ready to use ideas.

During the 3-day-meeting we got to know history of the Alliance and its member organisations. We also talked about formal and non-formal education, what they are and how they differ from each other. By working in different groups we designed projects which could be used for example on workcamps or in promotion of non-governmental organisations. We worked from the morning till the evening coming up with ideas on different topics. You will be able to get  to know the results of our work as soon as the Ideabook is ready!

Each of the project we created is based on the WWOAW method:

Who? – Who will be the target group of the project?

Where? – Where will the project located?

Obstacles? – What may be difficult in realisation of the project?

Advantages? – What will be the benefits of the project?

What? – What are we going to do? / What are we going to do to encourage people from outside the organisation to participate in the project?

We also experienced organising a Free Hugs action in Marche-en-Famenne. The initiative was very interesting and the people met very kind. However, you can imagine pedestrians’ faces when they saw a group of 10 people who wanted to hug them without any reason. I really recommend this extraordinary experience as one rarely have a chance to see such positive  reaction from the people.

At the end I would like to recommend Association des Compagnons Bâtisseurs (CBB), a team of great people who organised an excellent seminar. If you ever have an opportunity, cooperate with them, take part in their workcamps etc. I am very happy that I could met them and other great and interesting people engaged in the idea of voluntary service and its promotion.

Hope you enjoyed the story. Thank you very much for follow us!

Love,
