EVS volunteers from different foreign countries in Poland. (part2)

Hello,
today we continue with the interviews.  Why these volunteers came to Poland? What they miss here? Read and you will get to know! :)

(The first part can be found  here )

There is always written volunteer's name, age, country where he/she comes from and the city where he/she lives in Poland.

Tiziano, age 31, Italy – Sicily, Częstochowa

1. Why/how did you decide to do EVS project? And why in Poland?

It was coincidence a bit. I never really thought of Poland. But I found very nice project and I decided to apply. So I came here…

2. What is your project about? What are your daily tasks?

I teach music in schools. Not only children but also teenagers, the age is from 6 to 18.

3. What did you gain from your experience here, what did you learn while participating in the project?

Now I know myself better. But I think it will be easier to answer this question when I am back home in Sicily. When I will see this experience from the distance. Sometimes you realize some things only from distance.

4. What would you say or advice to future volunteer/s? (It can be someone already selected or someone who is considering EVS project...)

Enjoy your life abroad without troubles. Enjoy every moment, EVS is a great opportunity.

5. What do you miss the most from your country? Something you cannot find in Poland?

First of all friends. I mean – I go out with a lot of fantastic people here but it is different when I go with my friends whom I know for a long time already. These old friends know me deeper.

And also food.

And sea. My house back home is in front of the sea – about 5 meters :) I miss the sound of the sea in the morning. :)

Uğur, age 26, Turkey, Gdańsk

1. Why/how did you decide to do EVS project? And why in Poland?

I was already in Poland before and I like the country so I wanted to come back. And I found the project I was really interested in. And why EVS – I wanted to work with people with disabilities. I had disabled sister, she died years ago. So I wanted to help the people who might have similar problems as she used to have.

2. What is your project about? What are your daily tasks?
I do activities for participants – workshops etc. Sometimes we have our own small projects and activities – cooking, painting activities, hand-made things workshops.. We sell the products and money goes to foundation. (Usually we are selling it before Christmas, during Easter, Valentine's Day…)

3. What did you gain from your experience here, what did you learn while participating in the project?

Patience. Time management…

4. What would you say or advice to future volunteer/s? (It can be someone already selected or someone who is considering EVS project...)

Bring clothes for winter, don’t drink too much :) Try to learn Polish as soon as possible. At least up to some minimum level so you can buy something in the shop. :)

5. What do you miss the most from your country? Something you cannot find in Poland?

Food, family, friends. Istanbul. And my home town.

1. Why/how did you decide to do EVS project? And why in Poland?

Poland is quite close to my home town Lviv and close to me personally as well – I had met Polish people before and I had also known Polish language before I came for my project. I choose it because of the project with disabled people.

2. What is your project about? What are your daily tasks?

I help people with disabilities to understand that they are as much the same part of society as everyone else. I – together with another volunteer from Turkey – prepare some activities and workshops for them.

3. What did you gain from your experience here, what did you learn while participating in the project?

I learnt how to keep calm and be patient.

4. What would you say or advice to future volunteer/s? (It can be someone already selected or someone who is considering EVS project...)

Try to learn a lot from people with whom you work, try to find some friends among local people so they can show you and tell you more about the place and the country. Go to concerts.

5. What do you miss the most from your country? Something you cannot find in Poland?

Food. Because the food in my country is more tasty for me. And I think also healthier.

And my cats :)
